Temporal Snapback

Temporal Snapback, or simply "snapback", refers to the backwards motion through time eventually experienced by any object or area affected by a Temporal Phasing Field (most commonly in the form of a ship's Phase Manteau). The Reiman Equation, which governs the physics of phasing technology, dictates that for any area of space phased in one temporal direction (either forwards or backwards in time), that area must eventually spend an equal duration at the same distance in the opposite direction from its Temporal Origin (known as "Zero O'Clock"). This effect, initially considered a significant downside to the phase manteau, was famously put to devastating tactical use by Archinath Turgus during the Battle of Myyran.
