Phase Manteau

The Phase Manteau is a cloaking device that hides an area of space (usually containing a starship) by pulling it slightly forward in time. Powered by a Temporal Phase Drive, the Phase Manteau hides anything within its area of effect by "phasing" it out of synch with the time at which the drive is activated. However the Reiman Equation, on which the phase drive is based, requires that anything phased forward must eventually phase backwards at an equal magnitude from its starting time. The longer the drive is active, the more intense the eventual Temporal Snapback. This effect places practical limits on the length of time that a Phase Manteau can remain active without risking catastrophic Phase Breach, triggering a Reiman Cascading Effect.
