Wormhole Dice Roll

The Wormhole Dice Roll (WDR) is when the Worldwide Wormhole Complex (WWC) destination coordinates are set to "random" and the arrival point is left to chance. Critics point out that as true random number generation is impossible, the WDR is as deterministic as the rest of the universe. Adherents of the Church of the Worm build their fate doctrine upon such a concept, believing that the WDR will lead you to "wherever in the world you are meant to be." Wormists worship the WWC as an omniscient being, to its discoverers' great chagrin (though no evidence has been offered thus far that it is not, in fact, an omniscient being).

The WDR is particularly popular with recent divorcees and college graduates seeking to start new lives for themselves. Common complaints cited are difficulties in knowing what clothes to pack, what languages to learn, and of course the high degree of survival preparedness required (due to the high likelihood of emerging in an inhospitable wilderness).
