Prince

The official title of the rulers of ancient Jucundia. This title was held first by Jocus, who additionally held the unrelated title of Archprelate. All princes of Jucundia were of that state's ancient nobility, culminating in the tyranny of the Tiger Prince, who claimed descent from both princes and archprelates.

Princely Powers

The powers of the princes of Jucundia varied drastically throughout the seven centuries of the ancient principality, depending on the relative strength of the Setuqes.

Method of Succession

Princes were officially selected by the Setuqes, but stronger princes were able in effect to name their successor on a quasi-dynastic basis.
