Leviathan's Claws
The Leviathan's Claws are a string of rocky islands extending into the Middle Sea eastward from the eastern Sillisti Mountains. The Claws are an extension of the Sillisti chain, the peaks of underwater mountains. The Claws have been a haven for pirates for centuries; the narrow passages between the islands contain ideal ambush points, and innumerable small anchorages and choke points are scattered throughout the chain. Given the dangers present, only incredibly brave or incredibly foolish captains will risk passing through the islands.
Both the nations or Ereba and Aranth maintain patrols around the islands to intercept pirates and smugglers, but the effectiveness of these measures is questionable. Independent privateers also operate in the area - most of whom are pirates in reality.
