Away from the Stars
"Away from the Stars" is a work by New Ruralist Pandit Cobro. While published initially for a short run in pamphlet form, the piece was achieved widespread exposure when it was republished as part of the The Final Jeremiad compendium.
Thesis
The main point of the piece is that humanity's interactions with the cosmos, specifically the exploration of other solar systems that began in the 2100s, have been on the whole harmful. Cobro cites various health data as well as opinion surveys to show that, by all measures of health and well-being, humanity's best days are far behind it. His solution is simple: return the focus of human life to Earth and neglect outer-space exploration.
