When apples aren't enuf
When apples aren't enuf is a poem written by beat-poet Arnis Radis. It placed third the the 1989 World Spice Beatbox Championship.
Inspiration
Radis has cited his inspriation for the poem as the "eternal struggle of man and nature." In an later interview, he said:
Well, when I was writing "When apples..." I was in a really bad place, you know? I wanted to convey my everyday and mundane, yet metaphysical struggle, through the medium of fruit poetry.
Poem
The text is as follows:
I look outside my flat
and that
is the key
the key to me
I see my thirst
it's worst
in the day time
the lame time
What quenches it?
Is it love?
Is it stuff?
When apples aren't enuf
