Oakland Municipal Champion
The Oakland Municipal Champion is the official duelist for the City of Oakland, CA. It is the Champion's job to fight all duels on behalf of the City Mayor at the annual Oakland Scottish Highland Games and Dueling Festival.
The Champion fights only duels relating to the Mayor's official business. Personal affairs of honor are they Mayors own to see to, but it is considered an extreme breach of protocol to challenge the Mayor to a personal duel during their tenure in office.
The Champion is not allowed to be challenged to a claymore duel, and only bolas or riding crops (depending on the sex of the Champion), black ribbons only.
The Champion is traditionally of the same sex as the Mayor, and is chosen by the Mayor and approved by the City Dueling Commission.
The current Oakland Municipal Champion is Arthur Hicks.
