Ascendence War
The Ascendence War is the name given to a series of assassinations, raids, and full-scale battles at the end of the Fourth Age between various factions for and against the deification, or Ascendence, of the evil arch-mage Scurripak.
Culminating in the Battle of Nine Armies at Scurripak's tower, the war was brought to an end by the wizard's death at the hands of a group of adventurers led by the brass dragon Culykunictus. When Scurripak fell, the spell he had devised to grant himself godhood collapsed, and the magical energies released tore the land apart for miles, wiping out most of the armies still fighting nearby and creating the (name).
Because of the far-reaching effects of Scurripak's death on the world, the end of the Ascendence War is recognized as the end of the Fourth Age and the start of the Fifth. Scurripak's defeat therefore falls in 0 FA.
